Lucy is a Consultant in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team at Ellul & Cruz. She brings a wealth of experience to the team, having practised for many years at the Bars of Scotland and England & Wales before moving to Gibraltar, where she now practises as a barrister. Lucy is also qualified in New York and the Republic of Ireland and holds Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Lucy’s practice includes high-value, complex commercial disputes, corporate and personal insolvency, fraud, crypto and shipping. She deals with international commercial arbitration under the rules of the LCIA and ICC. In 2022, Lucy was appointed by the European Commission to its roster of Arbitrators in bilateral trade disputes under relevant agreements between the EU and third countries.
Lucy has also undertaken civil work in other areas such as medical negligence and has prosecuted and defended serious criminal cases at the highest level.
Lucy has extensive experience as a courtroom advocate and has appeared in courts at all levels in the UK, as well as in the Supreme Court of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Court of Appeal. She also held a part-time judicial appointment in Scotland as a Sheriff.
Lucy maintains excellent links with legal professionals in the USA and worldwide through her membership of the New York State Bar Association and is the Co-Chair of its International Section Committee on Art Law, Art Funds and Art Finance, reflecting her passion for art and its intersection with law and business. She is a regular speaker at conferences, most recently at the Section’s Global Conference in Hamburg.
Lucy has been ranked twice by the Legal 500 as a Next Generation Partner.
She speaks excellent German and French.
