Neil commenced practice in 2004 as a general practitioner. Throughout his career he has worked for two of Gibraltar’s largest law firms and has also served as in-house counsel for Deloitte where he specialised in tax, private client and insolvency matters.
When he joined the firm in 2012, he predominantly worked on civil litigation matters with an emphasis on family, employment and commercial disputes. For the last few years his focus has been on corporate, commercial and corporate finance work, particularly with transactional work involving the use of Gibraltar based entities. He is a partner in the Corporate Department.
Neil is also one of Gibraltar’s busiest Notaries Public and he heads up our Notarial Department.
In addition, Neil retains a keen interest in shipping and heads the firm’s practice in this area. Neil’s shipping expertise extends to ship registration, ship financing and all aspects of yacht registration. His other practice areas include property; principally sale and purchase transactions and mortgage finance.
Neil has also been active in advising on fintech and blockchain related work since 2017, assisting applicants seeking a DLT Provider licence and advising other fintech firms more broadly, looking to setup operations in Gibraltar. He is also active in private client work advising High Net Worth Individuals on a wide array of matters.
He devotes some of his time to football related matters and sits on the Gibraltar Football Association’s Club Licensing First Instance Board to assess Gibraltar clubs’ applications to participate in UEFA competitions.
In September 2016 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Notarial Practice from University College London. Neil holds an LLB from Leeds Beckett University. In 2018, he was awarded a Professional Certificate of Competence in Gibraltar Tax by the University of Gibraltar.
He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
